Was My First Facebook Boost a Fluke? So I Tested It Again

Garry Wasson

In my last post, The Power of Small Ads: Boosting Brand Awareness with Minimal Spend, I shared how I boosted a Facebook post for my Fitness Boxing content with just $20.

The results looked promising, but I couldn’t help wondering, was that just a lucky one off Fluke? So,

I decided to run another test.

Different Boxing Video, Same Niche Boxing.

This time, I boosted a different Facebook post with a new boxing fitness related video with a fresh angle and creative. Same niche, same small budget, same 2 day timeframe. I wanted to see if the results were repeatable, or if the first boost was just a fluke.

How This Boost Performed Here’s what happened with my second Facebook post boost:

Spend: A$19.70

 - ThruPlays: 737

- Cost per ThruPlay: A$0.03

- Reach: 3,801

 - Post engagements: 2,495

 - 3-second video plays: 2,492

Seeing these numbers in my own FB dashboard again really confirmed that small boosts can work for me it’s not just theory. Comparing the Two Boosts Here’s a quick side-by-side:

- First video boost:

  • A$0.02 cost per ThruPlay
  • Reach: 4,679
  •  ThruPlays: 882
  • Second video boost: New video, same boxing niche
  • A$0.03 cost per ThruPlay
  • Reach: 3,801
  • ThruPlays: 737

The numbers aren’t identical, but the trend is the same: small spend, solid engagement, and meaningful reach.

From running a second boost confirmed a few things for me: It wasn’t just one lucky fluke , different content in the same niche also performs well. Small boosts can generate real engagement at a low cost, Facebook is a viable platform for me building brand awareness, even on a tiny budget

What I learnt from this?

Two boosts, two different videos, similar results that tells me cheap brand awareness isn’t just possible, it’s repeatable. I don’t need a huge budget to test and guess if it will work. I just need a plan, realistic expectations, know my target market and the willingness to experiment.
